Do I need to own a computer to attend?
Yes. We may loan a computer system (including desktop computer, printer, and software) to support the learning process. These computer systems are instructional property and must be returned when the student leaves the school. We will arrange for technical support and troubleshooting for these systems. Each family will need to secure their own Internet service provider. In certain cases, we may provide a stipend to offset the cost of the Internet service. This determination will take place during the enrollment process.
Information regarding Reduced Internet:
If you live in an area served by Comcast and your children are eligible for free/reduced lunch, you may qualify for Internet Essentials, a new Internet service which costs just $9.95/month. Low-cost laptops are also available through this program. For more information, please visit the Comcast website.
What computer skills are required?
The Learning Coach (responsible adult in the home) needs to have at least basic computer skills. Use of the computer is an important part of the program, but in the early grades, it is mostly the learning coach who interacts with the computer. The program is user-friendly.
